Lady Terminator

The South Seas Queen is not your typical royal female, instead she is a vicious and insatiable creature. She lures men to her isolated castle with promises of sexual hijinks, but the sex doesn't come without a price. If her conquests are unable to satisfy her sexual needs, she doesn't just get mad, she gets even. This bitch removes their genitals through a most painful process, then simply moves to her next potential partner. But when she runs into her latest victim, she is shocked to discover that he can handle her and then some. Once she has been satisfied, a magical dagger is released from her crotch, the very source of her power. Enraged, she curses the man's great granddaughter, a most vile threat indeed. Down the road a hundred years or so, an anthropologist named Tanyna (Barbara Anne Constable) ventures into the realm of the South Seas Queen, hoping to find some artifacts or hidden truths about the past. Instead, she finds herself held captive on a huge bed, then sexually assaulted by a slimy snake. Now she is possessed by the evil spirit of the South Seas Queen, doomed to a life of sexual hijinks and rampant violence. Armed to the teeth, she heads to a more populated region, to eliminate that damn great grandaughter, as promised. Can anyone stop this femme fatale, or will the curse be fulfilled?

An Indonesian clone of The Terminator, with a hot as hell female terminator, graphic violence, naked bodies, loads of camp appeal, and one of cinema's all time greatest mullets. Yes folks, Lady Terminator is a cult smash and thanks to Mondo Macabro, we can all own this disaster in a great new edition. The flick itself is so damn bad, you have to love it and at the very least, you can't manage to take your eyes off the screen. Not because of the action or great performances, but because you might miss some hilarious dialogue, cheap special effects, a shot of star Barbara Anne Constable in the nude, or worst of all, the one of the greatest mulletz in the history of motion pictures. I viewed this with a bunch of friends and without question, that night was a blast and numerous people asked about how to obtain a disc of their own. Lady Terminator has all the elements needed for camp bliss, plus a star in Constable that is always fun to watch, especially when she strips down or dons her bikini to soak up the sun. As I said, the special effects are laughable, the performances and action sequences are too, but this is one fun movie. Mondo Macabro has restored the flick to its full length and struck a brand new visual treatment, then thrown in some cool supplements. So for fans of cult cinema, Lady Terminator is a must see and thanks to Mondo Macabro's wonderful treatment, this disc is a must own release.

Lady Terminator is presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen. This is a low rent 80s movie from Indonesia, so to say that I had minimal expectations would be an understatement. I've seen a miserable full frame video version, which looked worse than even this movie deserves, but Mondo Macabro has worked out the kinks. Now we have a proper widescreen edition, one that even boasts a clean and clear print. So what used to be soft and covered in debris now looks much cleaner, a real feat in this case. The neon colors look bright and rich, while contrast remains solid and ensures detail never suffers. The film's low rent roots are still evident at times, but all in all, this is a superb visual treatment in all respects.

The mono track here should satisfy fans, but as with any mono option, it covers the basics and little else. I was surprised by how clean the materials were, as no age related errors were to be found, very impressive work. The dialogue, music, and sound effects all come through in fine form, but with the expected mono limitations. This one doesn't have much flash, but it is more than up to the task, which proves to be enough here.

A featurette on Indonesian cult cinema is the main extra here, a piece that runs about half an hour and has some cool stuff. I love the clips from other films, even though it is more like torture, since most are unreleased in the U.S. This disc also includes alternate "clothed" sequences, some production notes, still photos, talent files, and the film's theatrical trailer.

With nothing to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth.
